Geometries in Wood
In 2020, amid the pandemic and a personal journey with infertility, Lily commenced a body of work that came to serve as an anchor for her in a period of deep uncertainty. The geometric shapes that formed the basis of these pieces were simple, solid, and required a meditative attention as they were cut and sanded into their desired shapes. The creation of these abstract works has become a self-care practice for the artist, who finds beauty in the process of balancing their compositions and repurposing scraps of wood into small slices of grace.
